DESIGN STUDIO I

In this class, Amanda created an unrealized costume design for Lauren Gunderson's The Revolutionists. Her design can be found in Design Work. Below is the research paper she wrote at the end of the semester, which explores the historical context of the French Revolution and the modern influences present in her design.

STAGE MANAGEMENT

For this class, the students faux-stage managed Proof by David Auburn. Their duties included creating cast list notices, costume and prop breakdowns, faux rehearsal, production meeting, and performance reports. They also practiced recording blocking and light/sound cues into their scripts. Below is a link to a selection of excerpts from Amanda's Proof Prompt Book.

SHAKESPEARE: TRAGEDIES AND ROMANCES

The largest project in this class was creating an online anthology of Shakespearean adaptations of one of the plays Amanda read during the semester. Amanda chose to create an anthology of comedic adaptations of Hamlet. Below is a link to her website, Ha-Ha-Hamlet.

STAGING THE WORLD IN LONDON

Amanda studied abroad during her Junior year in Florence, Italy and London, United Kingdom. During her two months in London, she attended over a dozen plays. Below is a link to her final reflective paper at the end of this course.

THEATRE COLLABORATION

For this course, Amanda directed a fully student-run production of Susan Glaspell's "Trifles" and "Woman's Honor," titled Pieces of Glaspell. Below is a link to her program note. Recordings of the plays can be found through the Videos tab on the top menu.

VOICE, MOVEMENT, AND MODERN STYLES

Before performing an oral interpretation, Amanda created a 'script' that included a color-coded key of what stylistic techniques to apply when.

PRINCIPLES OF DIRECTING

The final for Amanda's directing course was the production of a 30-minute one act play The Man of Infinite Sadness by Brian Tanen. Below is her analysis of this script.

CLASSICAL THEATRE HISTORY

In this course, Amanda analyzed a Sanskrit Drama, The Toy Cart, in comparison to a Roman New Comedy, Asinaria.

DRAMATIC LITERATURE AND SCRIPT ANALYSIS

In this course, Amanda learned the basics of script analysis. Below is her final project, an extensive analysis of August Wilson's Fences.

MODERN THEATRE HISTORY

Below is Amanda's critique of Eugene Scribe's A Glass of Water that she conducted in her foundational theatre history course.

BEGINNING ACTING

Amanda's beginning acting class introduced her to character analysis. Below is her analysis of Eurydice, the title character in Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice.
